52 RVBusiness J A N U A R Y F E B R U A R Y 2 0 2 1 ADVENTURE CAMPING 2021 Venture RV Sonic X A nother adventure trailer introduced in 2020 the Sonic X by Venture RV easily secured the RVBusiness RV of the Year title when it was introduced at Elkharts RV Open House in 2019 Based on an allcarbon fiber prototype for an adventure trailer the Sonic X is ideally equipped for extended off grid living according to Dave Boggs general manager Everything on the outside of the Sonic X says Im ready for off road adventure Starting at the front a black rock guard transitions to a one piece fiberglass front wall roof and back wall Fewer seams mean fewer leaks and the design makes for an aerodynamic front for fuel efficiency while towing A black and blue rally stripe adorns the front and back walls with prominent brand graphics also exuding action An LCI Jack It bicycle rack is attached to the front power tongue jack Why the bicycles on the front Because a fold down rack on the back of the trailer is designed for kayaks and other gear The sides and back of the trailer are protected by rugged tubular steel nerf bars and rear bumper painted black for 2021 Off road tires and wheels add to the aggressive stance of this full body width trailer And if thats not enough standard hi definition LED front and rear bar lights put out enough light to signal the space station Underneath the front third of the frame is protected by a full size skid plate which then transitions to the coroplast underbelly material Being a four season unit this is all sealed up with electric heaters applied to all the tanks A large exterior hatch suggests an outside kitchen but instead this large door reveals a utility garage which makes this unit stand out well from the crowd The garage holds the 2kW inverter system powered by a 250 amp hour lithium battery which is charged by the four100 watt roof mounted solar panels The system supplied by Go Power when coupled with the low consumption 11500 BTU air conditioner can provide up to five hours of air conditioning before a recharge is required according to Venture Across the compartment from the Go Power system is the Boondocker water filtration and purification system built by Clearsource in cooperation with No Dirty Water This system which is unique to the Sonic X and optional for 2021 has the ability to draft water from a static source purify it and fill the two 45 gallon fresh water tanks Above this the wall is fitted with garage wall racks that can be fitted with hangars and baskets for all kinds of gear Lastly the two 3500 pound torsion axles are fitted with 15 inch off road tires and wheels with a full size undermounted spare Four power stabilizer jacks with independent motors take the bounce out of the parked unit The interiors are attractive with earth tones grays and blacks with white paneling on the walls and ceilings making for a bright easy to maintain interior A digital entertainment system and LED TV allow for good movie night options but youre in the wilderness so no TV right The galley and bathroom are roomy and well equipped and theres plenty of storage for gear including a closet with a wall mounted safe and fishing pole hunting rifle storage locker In the computer world they would call the Sonic X WYSIWYG meaning what you see is what you get Everything is standard except the filter system and the company is offering an optional 12 volt DC powered compressor based refrigerator in place of the 8 cubic foot RV model for 2021 SPECIFICATIONS Length 27 6 GVWR 7285 lbs Base MSRP 47555 RVB
