TOPof theNews Go RVing Announces Experiential Events for 2019 Go RVing has announced its 2019 experiential event calendar From festivals concerts and sporting events RVers will have ample opportunity to meet up with the Go RVing team as they prepare to hit the road once again Covering cities from Seattle to Miami every region of the U S is accounted for this season The team locked in some first time events including the African World Festival in Detroit while also adding in a couple of cultural events in the Los Angeles and Miami areas to the mix Events include March 2 3 Innings Festival Phoenix Ariz March 2 3 Carnaval on the Mile Coral Gables Fla April 12 14 Tortuga Ft Lauderdale 12 RVBusiness M A R C H A P R I L 2 0 1 9 Fla May 11 12 JB Andrews Air Show Washington D C May 17 19 Hangout Music Festival Gulf Shores Ala June 6 9 Carolina Country Music Festival Myrtle Beach S C June 6 9 Go Pro Mountain Games Vail Col June 28 30 San Diego County Fair San Diego Calif July 13 14 Outside Experience Chicago Ill July 19 21 Bite of Seattle Seattle Wash Aug 1 4 X Games Minneapolis Minn Aug 17 19 African World Festival Detroit Mich Aug 31 Sept 2 Taste of Colorado Denver Colo Sept 14 15 Fiesta Patrias Lost Angeles Calif Sept 26 29 Big E Springfield Mass Sept 27 29 Miramar Air Show Miramar Calif Sept 28 Red Bull Soapbox Derby Dallas Texas More events may be added as dates are finalized RVB SSI 2018 a Record Year for North American Retail Sales According to Statistical Surveys Inc SSI the Grand Rapids Mich based purveyor of RV industry market data new retail registrations closed out 2018 at an all time high of 489440 units an increase of 357 over 2017 which at the time was the best year on record SSI President Scott Stropkai told RVBusiness that anyone focused on the declining year over year shipment numbers fails to remember those are being compared to the best year on record Adding that SSIs retail data come from all 50 states as well as Canada Stropkai said that while year over year retail registration figures for September October November and December last year were down modestly each month still represented the second best month ever It is worth noting that January 2019 retail registration figures also were down year over year but Stropkai pointed out that again the comparable represents the best January on record Taken in context while towables were down 9 year overyear January 2019 still represents the second best month since 2003 Likewise while motorized was down about 24 year over year January 2019 is the best month ever for Class Bs and the fourth best month for the Class A and C segments since 2009 RVB
