BY SHERMAN GOLDENBERG PHOTOS BY SHAWN SPENCE FMCAs 97th Convention Draws 6000 RV Owners to Georgia Rally Generates Yet Another Positive Signal for the Industry I think it was phenomenal said FMCA Executive Director Chris Smith Not only was it our biggest event since 2011 but it looks like we had close to 2000 people come through the public gate We had almost 400 show exhibitor coaches as well From that perspective it was great 46 RVBusiness M A Y J U N E 2 0 1 8 I n a scene reminiscent of the Cincinnati based RV owners clubs heyday some 2600 member coaches 190 commercial exhibitors and an estimated 6000 total attendees converged March 15 18 on the Georgia National Fairgrounds Agricenter in Perry Ga for FMCAs 97th International Convention and RV Expo And the general takeaway from both exhibitors and participants on hand for FMCAs Perry rally was that the essential buzz is returning for the 75000 member club which like so many things lost some of its edge and nearly half of its membership in the wake of the Great Recession Indeed FMCA has posted two consecutive years of membership growth and is looking for a third in 2018 Our growth has been phenomenal for the last two years said FMCA National President Jon Walker an Elkhart Ind resident I mean the trend is consistent growth So nearby Macon CBS affiliate WMAZ TVs description of the clubs semi annual national rally as an RV show on steroids probably wasnt all that far off the mark as legions of American RV enthusiasts 989 of them new attendees parked their recreational vehicles in neat Service technicians from Cummins Inc were on hand to assist RV owners with any needed repairs
